Small Quantity Hazardous Waste Generators (SQGs) is a generator if the site meets all of the following criteria: (i) Generates, in any calendar month, more than 100 kilograms (kg; 220 pounds [lbs]) but less than 1,000 kg (2,200 lbs) of Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) hazardous waste; and (ii) Does not generate, in any calendar month, more than 1 kg (2.2 lbs) of acute hazardous waste listed in sections 261.31 or 261.33(e); and (iii) Does not generate more than 100 kg (220 lbs) of material from the cleanup of any residue or contaminated soil, waste, or other debris resulting from the cleanup of a spill, into or on any land or water, of any acute hazardous wastes listed in sections 261.31 or 261.33(e).

Small Quantity Generators of Hazardous Waste are tracked in this coverage based on their notification to the Department of Environmental Protection as to their handler status, or based on inspections conducted at their facilities. These facilities are regulated under the federal RCRA and applicable state regulations as generators of hazardous wastes in quantities greater than 100 Kg but less than 1,000 Kg in any one calendar month.
