The ARPC serves as the Economic Development District (EDD) for the 9-county Apalachee Region. An EDD is a designated planning office that is funded by the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) to provide technical assistance with application preparation, processing, award administration, and identification of regional funding opportunities.

The primary functions of the Apalachee EDD include:

​

  • Preparing, updating, and maintaining the Regional Economic Development Strategy.

  • Assisting with the implementation of goals and strategies identified in the Regional Economic Development Strategy.

  • Provide technical assistance to local governments, economic development organizations, and other stakeholders.

 

ARPC staff recently completed the 2022-2027 Regional Economic Development Strategy (formerly called the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy).
